Magne Furuholmen
Magne Furuholmen (b. 1962, Oslo) is a highly versatile artist. He constantly moves between different techniques and expressions. Norway is not spoiled with personalities that stand out so clearly in several cultural fields. From an impressive music production over 25 years, to significant exhibitions and decoration commissions in painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics and glassworks. Magne Furuholmen has, among other things, been responsible for facade decorations in Berlin and at Aker Solutions' headquarters in Fornebu, several public art decorations such as the award-winning 'Spor av tid' ('Trace of Time') in the center of Bergen with a 5 meter high ceramic sculpture that includes sound and atmospheric elements, and the monumental aluminum sculpture 'Climax' after an invitation from the Nobel Peace Center in 2007. Over the last 15 years, Furuholmen has received numerous awards, including for best graphic work at Høstutstillingen (The Autumn Exhibition). He has been purchased by the Arts Council Norway and is represented in significant art collections at home and abroad, including Hydro and Statoil, and not least in London where two of his works from the exhibition 'Norwegian Wood' in 2013 were purchased for the world's largest private art collection. Since 1989, Magne Furuholmen has had exhibitions at home and abroad with paintings, drawings and other graphic techniques. He participated at The Autumn Exhibition in 1993, 1994, 1995 and received the award for best lithograph in 1996.
